Steamed brussel sprouts (Japanese style)

Fresh brussel sprouts


I love brussel sprouts. I never thought that I would say that. For my whole life, I had in my head that I would hate them. It seemed that everywhere around me people hated them, so I would say that I did too. But when I started cutting out refined grains from my diet, I needed other ways to fill me up. Brussel sprouts were perfect.


Steamed brussel sprouts


  • 1tbsp  soya sauce
  • 1tbsp  sugar
  • 1tbsp  lemon juice
  • 2tsp     fish sauce
  • 1/4tsp chicken stock
  • 1/4tsp sesame oil
  • 15 drops spicy sesame oil
  • dried fish flakes



Steam brusell until cooked. They will be a nice green colour (poke with a chopstick, if it enters easily they are done). While cooking the sprouts, combine ingredients (except fish flakes) in a bowl and mix together.


Once cooked, add brussel sprouts and mix together.


Add fish flakes and serve.
