HavenRig came about after many years of adventure touring on my motorcycle. There always seemed to be two items that were never quite comfortable on the bike; My hatchet, and my tent. Over the years I tried as many configurations as possible, and the one place that seemed that natural fit was the handle bars. It was the only place the tent was able to be perpendicular to the road without worry of it bouncing off.
In my design stages of this product I knew that if I was to put a tent cast on the handle bars, it would make sense to add a couple more lightweight items to make the overall journey more comfortable. The first of the these items is a bike tarp. After a cool night, perhaps with some rain or frost, sitting on the bike the next morning and starting the day off damp is not a great feeling. Its only minor, but like I said it is the little things that add up when traveling simply. The other item is a quick release tarp. On many travels there would come a time, rain or shine, that I wanted to take a break for some rest or some lunch. Being off the main routes, often in back country, means shelter is of the natural kind. The quick release tarp unwraps from the case and is easily attached to something such as a tree to give some basic shelter. It is especially nice to be able to set up camp somewhat out of the rain, and on hot dessert rides strap it between two bike to get out of the sun for a snack.
The case is mounted to a bracket that sits above the headlight and is adjustable to make sure the right angle can be achieved for comfortable wind deflection. Aluminum case construction, stainless steel mounting bracket.
